Matching Your Personality

Why adopt a Pet?

Our Pet Adoption Services saves lives. But it is also a lifetime commitment. You are committed to giving them a:

  • Life of support
  • Life of care
  • Life of entertainment
  • Life of training/learning
  • Life of love
  • But really, they give all of that back.

When we say adoption saves lives, we mean adoption saves two lives. The life of the animal and the life of the adopter.

There are so many health benefits to adopting a pet! The CDC reports that walking and playing with your pets can decrease triglyceride levels, blood pressure, and cholesterol levels. There are also studies that say that babies with a dog in the household experience fewer infections due to improved immunity from the dog bringing in additional germs. They might also help children from developing certain allergies due to exposure to dander. They also compel us to spend more time outdoors, which can increase vitamin D and improve your mood. There are some resources that state that dogs can detect cancer. They have been reported to lick, nudge, or sniff cancerous tumors!

Pets help with emotional health. They are known to increase happiness, lower anxiety/stress levels, decrease feelings of loneliness, and increase opportunities for socialization. There are also some studies that say that pets provide excellent companionship to children with learning disabilities. Children on the autism spectrum sometimes find it hard talking to humans, but easy talking to animals.

Pets can also teach kids responsibility and respect for nature. It will help them when learning practical skills, such as cleaning out a cage, grooming, and teaching them tricks. They will also develop empathy, non-verbal communication, confidence, and nurturing skills, which are important down the road. This is all assuming that the parent/guardian is still #1 caretaker of the pet. We never insist upon adoption for a child to take care of alone.

Pets give us a sense of security. Having an animal in the house will make you feel a lot safer. As a plus, burglars are less likely to target houses with dogs.

Pets are just plain fun to have around. They bring back our sense of wonder and play, no matter our age.

Matching your personality:

Are you active?

Let us help you find your match.
